Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Wednesday said that the government is serious about controlling all kinds of violence against women (VAW) and committed to bringing perpetrators to justice.
On rape and subsequent murder of Bhagarathi Bhatta, the minister took to social networking site and informed that those involved in the crime has been arrested. He also thanked the police for making the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, the police have said that a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to the crime while investigations still continue.
Bhagarathi Bhatta, 17, of Chadepani of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 in Baitadi district in Sudurpaschim Province was raped and murdered while returning home from school.
The plus-two student had gone missing since February 3 and was found dead in the local community forest the following day.
