Govt to resume stalled Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium

The government will proceed with the stalled Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium. A Cabinet meeting on Monday decided to resume the construction of the project left halfway for want of budget. The Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation run by the comedian couple, Sitaram Kattel and Kunjana Ghimire, with which Bharatpur Metropolitan City reached an agreement with the project, took its hands off the project after it could not clear a large amount of money in arrears. As a result, the project has halted for a long time. 

The project would resume with the Cabinet's decision, said the metropolis mayor Renu Dahal. "It took time to follow the due procedure as big amounts of money have remained to be paid. Now, the project will proceed," she said. 

Earlier, The Foundation urged the metropolis to take its ownership after failure to clear the arrears. There remains over Rs 184 million to be paid, said the Foundation's chair Kattel. 

Now, The government has decided to provide Rs 120 million to clear the arrears of the project, it has been said. The metropolis has proceeded the stadium as a pride project, said the mayor.
