Govt will not deprive anyone from citizenship: Minister Karki

Minister for Communications, Information and Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki assured that the incumbent government will not deprive anyone of citizenship identity card.

At an 'Eid-Milan' programme organized by Nepali Congress (NC) Sunsari Constituency Number 4 at Koshi rural municipality-3 on Monday, Minister Karki bemoaned that around 500,000-600,000 youths in the country are facing various problems in lack of citizenship identity card.

Also Spokesperson of the government, Karki lamented that those youth are also deprived of public services such as health and education, privileges and schemes provided by the State to its citizens.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the incumbent government to address that issue on the basis of consensus.

Furthermore, the Minister informed the participant of the event that the government had registered a new bill related citizenship in the federal parliament to resolve the citizenship related problems.

He was confident that the newly registered bill on citizenship would be endorsed at the earliest on consensus of all political parties including the major opposition party -CPN (UML).

Present in the programme were NC central member and Province No 1 parliamentary party leader Rajiv Koirala and NC District President as well as Inaruwa Municipality Kedar Bhandari among others.
