Students who do not get at least 35 per cent marks in the school level examination will not be passing the class. 35 per cent indicates a GPA of 1.6. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has issued the Alphabetical Guideline, 2078 BS, after seeing problems in the grading system. The guideline is based on 35 per cent as the pass line for the upper level.
Joint Secretary Deepak Sharma said, “We believe the new system will improve student learning. In the past, when it was not mentioned in the certificate that they failed, they would go abroad and enroll in higher education. But now those who score less than 35 per cent are cannot admit to the upper class. ”
The directory has determined the new grade. The new criteria removes the 'e' and 'diplus' used in the past. Students who bring less than 35 percent will be mentioned as ungraded in the certificate. Admission to higher level will not be possible on the basis of unclassified certificate even if it is not mentioned in the certificate.
Guide to the best (GPA 4.0), excellent (GPA 3.6), satisfactory (GPA 2.4), acceptable (GPA 2.0) and basic (GPA 1.6). The student should at least obtain minimum ‘D’ grade in the theoretical side and minimum ‘C’ grade in the practical examination. Ministry spokesperson Sharma said that the students would be assessed in all the classes at the school level as per the guidelines.
