CPN-UML parliamentary party leader in Gandaki Province Assembly Prithvi Subba Gurung has been reappointed as the Chief Minister (CM) of the Province.
Gandaki Province Governor Sita Kumari Poudel appointed Gurung as the CM of the Province on Wednesday in accordance with Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal. Gurung had tendered resignation from his post on May 9.
Following the resignation, Province Chief Poudel had called for the formation of a majority government within three days.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, Janata Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Janamoracha had attempted to form a coalition government but to no avail. There were differing views within the Rastriya Janamorcha regarding its participation in the provincial government.
As per the Constitution, CM Gurung should seek a vote of confidence within a month of his appointment. CM Gurung took the oath of office and secrecy today itself.
