The Ministry of Health and Population has directed all the hospitals to take necessary precaution and vigilance as the monsoon is on its peak.

Chief of the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit of the Ministry, Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikari, has instructed all the hospitals across the country to make necessary preparations as drinking water pollution along with monsoon-related natural calamities has added challenges to sanitation and spread of infectious diseases including cholera.

So far, 17 cholera patients have been found in Kathmandu Valley. He has instructed all the hospitals to be ready and vigilant for the response including disasters and epidemics, to keep the health workers in readiness, to manage the beds as per the need and to prepare the medical equipment.

The directive also states that a mechanism and action plan should be prepared to minimize the loss of life and property by making maximum use of the resources as the hospital should be involved in immediate treatment by collecting necessary information and monitoring.
