The Ministry of Health and Population has directed hospitals not to ask relatives of patients infected with COVID-19 to look for oxygen. It has requested the medical fraternity to refrain from doing so.

During a press briefing on Sunday, Dr Jageshwor Gautam stated that it is the responsibility of hospitals to manage oxygen supply. He urged doctors and nurses to stop asking the relatives of COVID patients to search for oxygen.

Dr Gautam mentioned that the ministry had to make this request because there have been several complaints of relatives of patients infected with coronavirus being asked by doctors to arrange the required oxygen.

In recent days, due to the shortage of oxygen in hospitals relatives of COVID patients have been approaching oxygen manufacturing plants to avail the commodity.

Meanwhile, Dr Gautam also informed that the 18,000 empty oxygen cylinders delivered by China will be distributed to hospitals involved in treating COVID-19 patients in all seven provinces of the country.
