A doctor and an employee of the Malu COVID Hospital located in Malu of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Dolakha district were physically attacked last night.

Hom Bahadur Shrestha, Chairperson of Ward No. 4, informed that a few youths had entered the hospital at around midnight yesterday and physically attacked Dr Rovish Karki and office helper Top Bahadur Mijhar. He said the youths were intoxicated.

According to Ishwor Chandra Pokhrel, Chairperson of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality, the youths entered the hospital and started misbehaving with the staff demanding that patients not infected with the coronavirus to be treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Dr Karki mentioned the youths had entered the hospital by jumping over the gate. He added that when he told them not to enter the hospital as it was meant only for COVID-19 patients and that if they needed treatment for some other ailment he would do so separately they attacked him.

Dr Karki informed when the four youths started attacking him and other staff they had to hide themselves.

The police have already arrested three of the youths. They have been identified as Gopal Timilsina, Roshan Pokhrel and Bijule Nepali.
