KATHMANDU: The Tulsipur High Court has ordered the detention of former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in connection with a cooperative fraud case, overturning a lower court’s earlier decision to release him on bail.
The High Court issued the order following an appeal by the District Government Attorney’s Office. This ruling reverses the Rupandehi District Court’s decision on January 26, which had granted Lamichhane bail of Rs 10 million while the case was pending trial.
A joint bench of Judges Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli issued Friday’s order, citing the seriousness of the charges and the evidence presented. The court also upheld the District Court’s decision to remand retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and former Gorkha Media Network Director Chabi Lal Joshi in judicial custody.
