Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has acquired information about recent incidences of landslides and floods in different parts of the country and losses caused by the disasters, directing the bodies concerned to gear up the rescue, relief and management efforts.

The Home Minister has updated himself about the landslide that occurred at Rum of Malika rural municipality-2 in Myagdi, the road obstruction caused by the landslip at Kerbari of Bharatpur metropolis-29 and the losses due to the last night's landslide at Ichhakamana rural municipality in Chitwan and so on.

The Minister had telephone calls with Gandaki Province Police Chief Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ram Dutta Joshi, Myagdi's Chief District Officer Chiranjibi Rana, Chitwan's CDO Asman Tamang and Myagdi's Police Chief Tilak Bharati and instructed them to take required measures to address the post-disaster needs.

He also wanted them to inform the Ministry if they face any issues in disaster management.

A total of seven people had gone missing in the Myagdi's landslide last night and to date two have been rescued and the bodies of three have been retrieved from the landslide debris.

According to Myagdi's CDO, the search for the missing is going on. During the telephonic conversations, Chitwan's CDO apprised the Minister that presently it seemed no possibility of clearing the road obstruction at Kerabari of Bharatpur metropolis-29 along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section as debris flow continues to take place.

He said landslides hit other two locations: 20 kilos and 21 kilos along the section, causing traffic disruption at Jugedi towards the Narayangadh route and rescue efforts were underway for those getting trapped in the landslide. As he said, drivers have been asked to divert the route as it presently seemed not possible to clear off the landslide depositions.
