Holi, the festival of colors, is being celebrated in Terai today. Since Holi also promotes social harmony, it has been found that people of other religions join it. Wasim Alam, a youth leader, said that some youths of the Muslim community used to celebrate Holi together.
On the occasion of Fagu Purnima, it is customary for children, youth and adults from the mountains to the Terai and from the villages to the cities to have fun. Sales of fruits, meat, dyes and powder colors have increased in the market for this festival.
Police have been mobilized to prevent any untoward incident during the Holi festival, said Morang Superintendent of Police Janardan GC. Due to the Holi festival, the bustle in the market has increased.
