Home Minister directs IGP Kunwar to investigate attacks on police personnel

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar to investigate and take action against those involved in the recent incidents of assault and mistreatment of police personnel and the culprits brought to justice.

Summoning Police Chief Kunwar and other high-ranking police officers to the Home Ministry on Wednesday morning, Minister Lekhak said that serious attention has been drawn to the incidents being committed against the police while maintaining peace and security.

The secretariat has stated that he has also directed to investigate the incidents of attacks on police personnel and bring the culprits to justice immediately.

Minister Lekhak stressed that the police should be more proactive in maintaining peace and security, taking cognizance of the incidents of assault and mistreatment of security personnel in some parts of the country in the past few days.

“I have instructed to take legal action against whoever is involved in the incident,” said Minister Lekhak. “I have already asked to bring to justice anyone who disturbs peace and security in the society or attacks employees who are deployed to guard the society.”
