JANAKPURDHAM: In protest against the stone-pelting incident during the Hanuman Janmotsav procession in Birgunj on Saturday, the National Unity Campaign burned an effigy of Home Minister Ramesh Lekh in Janakpur.

Protesters condemned the disruption of the religious event and labeled the incident as a serious attack on religious freedom, demanding strict action against those responsible.

The demonstrators expressed their frustration over the Home Ministry’s inaction regarding the incident and burned the effigy of Home Minister Ramesh Lekh.

During the protest, slogans such as “Stop the drama of the all-party meeting,” “Jihadist terrorism is a religion of death,” and “Arrest the culprits immediately” were shouted.

A representative of the National Unity Campaign emphasized that the Birgunj incident was not an ordinary occurrence. “This is an attack on religious rights and freedom,” they stated. “If the culprits are not brought to justice immediately, we will intensify our movement.”

Amid heightened tensions between the two religious groups, security forces have been deployed in large numbers in Janakpur, the capital of Madhesh. Meanwhile, the local administration has launched an investigation into the Birgunj incident.
