The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that two points have been removed from the instructions issued for the Chief District Officers on Tuesday.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry has clarified that a revised circular was issued today by removing two points related to media including the social media. The points were removed after objection the media and other stakeholders.
“Taking into account the concerns expressed in the media, the points mentioned in the draft circular point nos. 1.2 and 2.1 have been removed, while continuing with the remaining in the circular sent on March 21”, reads the statement.
In the statement, the ministry has also expressed the commitment to fully adhere to the right to freedom of expression and of press guaranteed by the constitution.
