Home Minister Balkrishna Khand has obtained information about the status of reconstruction of the earthquake-ravaged archeological structures.
At a meeting at the home ministry today, Minister Khand inquired with Lalitpur Metropolis Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, Director-General of Department of Archeology Damodar Gautam, and Guthi Sansthan Chair Punya Bhusal, among others about the rebuilding of devastated archeological structures.
On the occasion, Minister Khand inquired about the progress made so far in the reconstruction of the archeological structures, and what are the plans to complete the reconstruction of the remaining structures.
At the meeting, the participants informed the home minister about the progress made so far and plan to complete the backlog of reconstruction works.
The Minister had directed the authorized persons to speed up reconstruction of the quake-damaged structures in a way that their fundamental features should be protected well. Minister Khand also asked them to inform the government of their need in facilitating the reconstruction works.
Also present on the occasion were Nepal Police IGP Shailesh Thapa and Armed Police Force IGP Shailendra Khanal.
On the occasion, Lalitpur mayor Maharjan said the responsibility of reconstruction of earthquake-ravaged structures if handed to the local level could be discharged in an efficient and effective manner. He further said they had learned a lesson that the construction and reconstruction of archeological structures of Lalitpur should not be handled through tender.
