The House of Representatives (HoR) has started its session in connection with deciding on the vote of confidence that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has sought from the lower house of the federal parliament.
At the outset of the meeting, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had read out a letter from the President regarding the summoning of the House session.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called the special session of the HoR on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers as the Prime Minister had considered it necessary to seek a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives.
Immediately after reading out the letter from the President, the Speaker nominated the lawmakers to chair the meetings of the HoR during the session. The names of Dr Dila Sangraula, Man Bahadur BK, Radha Kumari Gyawali, Rekha Sharma, Renu Kumari Yadav, Lal Babu Pandit and Som Prasad Pandeya have been nominated for this purpose.
Prior to this, the meeting observed a minute's silence to the memory of the martyrs laying down their lives for establishing republic and democracy.
Speaker Sapkota informed the meeting that the session has been called for the purpose of vote of confidence to the government as the Prime Minister had notified to take the confidence vote from the House in accordance with the constitution.
The Prime Minister had arrived in the meeting hall at 1.5pm to attend the meeting.
The Prime Minister is to present a proposal seeking a vote of confidence in the meeting. He will also make a statement after tabling the proposal.
The lawmakers will then put their views on the basis of party representation on the Prime Minister's proposal.
The Prime Minister will then respond to the opinions expressed and questions raised by the lawmakers from different parties.
Following this, the Prime Minister's proposal will be put to a vote in the House.
