The House of Representatives (HoR) will be holding a meeting today. During the session which has been scheduled for 1 pm, House Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota will read out the letter issued by the President’s Office regarding the appointment of Umesh Shrestha as state minister.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had appointed Shrestha as the state minister of health and population on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Sunday.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will present the annual report of 2076/77 of the Election Commission at the HoR today. The prime minister will also issue a condolence message on the demise of previous lawmaker BL Waiba.
Waiba had been elected to the Parliament in the general election held in Nepali calendar 2048 from region number 5 in Siraha. He was a member of the Janamorcha Nepal. He had passed away on June 3.

In the first meeting after the reinstatement of the House through a verdict of the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had faced the vote of confidence on July 18. Deuba, who is also the president of Nepali Congress, received 165 votes in his favour while there were 83 votes that were cast against him.
A total of 249 parliamentarians were present then in the House of Representatives for the vote of confidence that PM Deuba had sought. Meanwhile, one lawmaker had decided to stay neutral during the vote of confidence motion.
