The Birgunj customs office has said that 2 million 38 thousand 853 kiloliters of fuel and 187 thousand 456 metric tons of gas worth Rs 148.7 million have been imported.

The COVID epidemic last year saw a decline in domestic trade and transportation. Sumit Gupta, information officer at the office, said that the import of fuel has increased due to the reduction in the transition rate in the current fiscal year. He said that the increase in fuel imports has had a positive impact on revenue collection.

In the last eight months of the current fiscal year, revenue of Rs. 35.83 billion has been collected from the import of fuel for Nepal using the Birgunj trading route.
