The Indian Army has decided not to recruit Nepali women. According to the International Business Times, the Indian Army has halted the recruitment of Nepali women to work as military police under a new policy adopted by the Indian Army to give preference to Indian Gorkhas instead of Nepali Gorkhas in its Gorkha Regiment.
On May 28, the Indian Army had issued a notice calling on interested female candidates to register themselves to work as military police. The vacancy was opened for 100 candidates. The notice had mentioned that even Nepali women would be allowed to apply for the post.
However, the Indian Army has now stopped the recruitment of Nepali women for the posts.
