The first irrigation project under construction at Syaphru in North Rasuwa has attracted local farmers. The District Irrigation Subdivision Office, Rasuwa, has approved a new scheme for the first time to provide irrigation facilities to the vacant land during winter.

As the full amount has not been allocated this year, a strategy has been formulated to complete the Thulosyaphru Irrigation Scheme next year. Irrigation Chief Nirmal Dahal said that work is worth Rs. 3.2 million has been completed this year including public labour donations. The construction work of the scheme has been started through the local consumer committee.

According to Karam Dindup Lama, chairman of the construction consumer committee, the irrigation management of Thulosyaphru, a tourist destination, will make it easier to produce lekali paddy called Chhamrung during the rainy season and potato, maize, wheat and curry mixed vegetables in winter.

It is said that the irrigation canal project, which is continuously flowing from the Himalayan cliffs even after the snow melts, will help in consuming irrigation as well as drinking water.

In the first phase of this year, 900 meters of pipe have been constructed in the irrigation project with a length of about 1,600 meters. The tourism entrepreneurs have said that it will be easy to feed non-organic vegetables to the locals as well as tourists as the greenery of vegetables will increase in the coming winter.

According to the Consumers' Committee, 850 farmers will be benefited by irrigating 1,500 ropanis of land for the first time in the construction phase. As the Irrigation Office Rasuwa has been designing the last phase of irrigation development in a sustainable and reliable manner, the farmers have been attracted to the irrigation development.
