Kanchanpur records highest rainfall in 78 years

Kanchanpur in Sudurpaschim Province has received the highest amount of rainfall in the past 78 years. On July 7 and 8, Dodhara in Kanchanpur saw the highest amount of rainfall since 2003 B.S.

 According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Dodhara, Hanumannagar and Sundarpur in Kanchanpur received the highest rainfall since 2003 BS. According to the preliminary data measured on July 8 at 08:45 in the morning, 624.0 mm of rain fell in Dodhara, 573.6 mm in Hanumannagar and 555.8 mm in Sundarpur in a period of 24 hours.

  This year Monsoon started from East Nepal on June 10 and was active from June 28 to July 8.

Previously, on 29 Saun 2074 BS, the highest rainfall of 516.2 mm was measured at Hetauda of Makwanpur, while according to the data of the Soil Conservation Department, 540.0 mm of rain was measured at Tistung Rain Center of Makwanpur on 5 Saun 2050 BS.

According to Pratibha Manandhar, senior meteorologist of the division, Monsoon which was active in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces until two days ago is now active in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Lumbini and Gandaki provinces. Hence, there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places of those provinces tonight and on Wednesday night.
