Kathmandu metropolitan votes will be counted at City Hall

Additional security personnel have been deployed in the local body elections considering the sensitivity of the polling stations. Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department have been mobilized for the election. The security agencies are working in a coordinated manner as per the strategy for this reason.

Chief District Officer of the Kathmandu District Administration Office, Gobind Prasad Rijal, reported that voter ID cards are being distributed in all polling stations. He also mentioned that special arrangements have been made for the security personnel in order to provide sufficient security at all the polling stations tonight and for the peaceful conduct of the polling tomorrow. After the completion of the polling, all the ballot boxes will be safely taken to the polling station.

The aim is to start counting votes as soon as possible following the discussion with the candidates and their representatives. The counting of votes in places without consensus is to be done on Saturday. Additional arrangements have been made to deploy more staff to expedite the counting of votes. He said that they are aiming to make the results public as soon as possible. Efforts will be made to publish the results faster than in the previous election.

Like in the past, the counting of votes in Kathmandu Metropolitan City will be held at the National Assembly House. CCTV cameras have been installed.

There are 320 polling stations in the Kathmandu district. Although there are no sensitive polling stations in Kathmandu, the Chief District Officer informed that 115 polling stations are sensitive while the rest are considered normal.
