KOICA Nepal organizes ‘KOICA Nepal Office Photo Exhibition and Cultural Event’

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Nepal Office organized the ‘2024 KOICA Nepal Office Photo Exhibition and Cultural Event’ on September 11 and 12, 2024, at the KOICA ICT Center within the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus.

The KOICA organized this event to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Nepal, which began in 1974. Various programs were organized to celebrate this milestone and highlight the deep ties between the two nations.

The two-day event featured engaging activities and exhibitions, focusing on KOICA's development cooperation in Nepal under the theme of prosperity, happiness and humanity. The exhibition also showcased cultural aspects of Korea like food, traditional games, calligraphy and K-pop through the K Culture booth, K-Food Zone and Eco-Booth.

On the opening day of the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Tae-young Park, Secretary of Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) Bharat Mani Subedi, representatives from LIN Agencies and Korean Associations, high level government officials from different ministries, KOICA partners, KOICA Overseas Volunteers and the public were present.

In the event, Country Director of KOICA Nepal Office Mooheon Kong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nepal and all partners for their crucial support in advancing KOICA’s mission. Under Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (North East Asia Division) Mani Ratna Sharma also highlighted the overall cooperation and support from the Korean Government to Nepal, emphasizing on the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening the relation between the two nations.

Ambassador Park emphasized on mutual cooperation programs that would further strengthen the close ties between Korea and Nepal, elevating the bilateral relationship to new heights.

Around 400 public (Government officials, KOICA Partner organizations, and the general public) visited and witnessed the photo exhibition in two days.

Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Republic of Korea were established in 1974, marking the beginning of a strong and enduring partnership. Over the past 50 years, the relationship has flourished, with both countries collaborating extensively in areas such as the economy, infrastructure, development, and employment.

This cooperation has been marked by a steady growth in mutual support and shared projects. Notably, the Korean Government has contributed significantly through KOICA's initiatives. The ongoing partnership continues to build on these achievements, reflecting the deepening ties and commitment between the two nations. The support volume of the Korean Government through KOICA has reached USD 200,010,000 (Two Hundred Million and Ten Thousand US Dollars, from 1991 to2023.
