The National Land Commission, Chitwan, is scheduled to start the process of redistribution from February 1.
The commission is moving ahead with the appointment of Badri Timilsina, a district Maoist party leader, as he was also appointed as chairman last year. The commission is about to start work from six wards including Bharatpur Metropolitan City-14.
Chairman Timilsina said that necessary manpower including technicians would be mobilized at the rate of six in each ward. He informed that the work would be expedited by mobilizing necessary technology including satellite in the presence of local bodies and stakeholders. In Bharatpur Metropolitan City alone, 10,029 landless, squatters and unorganized settlers have applied for red card.
He said that the Kalika Municipality and Madi Municipality have already signed an agreement with the government as soon as the work started from the metropolis. Before starting the work, a public hearing will be held in the concerned ward through the facilitation committee, said Timilsina.
Timilsina, who was also the deputy chairman of the then District Development Committee, claimed that he was aware of all the geography and conditions of the district and would leave the land to the real landless.
