KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has argued that the language, arts, literature and culture from Himavat Khanda unites all Nepalis in a thread of unity.
Inaugurating the Himavat Khanda Art-Literature-Culture Conference organized by Madan Bhandari Academy of Art and Literature in Kathmandu on Friday, the former President said that unity among the nations from the Himavat Khanda was needed stating that this region was a place of beginning of human civilization.
“Himavat Khanda is a mythical geography in terms of language, art, literature and culture. Studies and research works are ongoing about this. Such a conference contributes to the development of language, arts, literature and culture in the Himavat Khanda,” she viewed.
According to Bhandari, the conference has further glorified the dignity of this territory.
Former chancellor of Nepal Academy and expert on Mundhum Bairagi Kainla, Prof Dr Diwakar Pradhan from Kashi Hindu University and other dignitaries spoke the need for academic dialogue, exchanges, promotion of languages and traditions from Himavat Khanda and other related issues. The conference scheduled to end on 16 March.
A total of 10 working papers from other countries and 22 papers from Nepali scholars will be presented on the conference.
