Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sher Bahadur Kunwar pledged to ensure that the national and foreign labourers would get their dues for their contributions.
During the briefing on the Department of Labour and Occupational Safety under the Ministry, Minister Kunwar argued that the foreign exchange reserve would be increased by the remittances sent by Nepalis youths working abroad. He will make sure that such youths are duly acknowledged, Minister Kunwar reiterated.
Trade unions and sister organizations of political parties should be active for the welfare of labourers, the Minister said, "I am in the favor of justice for labourers. Let's coordinate efforts to make the labourers feel justice in a peaceful manner rather than launching strikes, shut-down and padlocking."
Furthermore, he spoke of the need to consider amending some provisions in the laws relating to labourers to create enabling environment for them.
The Minister also instructed the concerned agencies to focus on the issues facing the Nepali labourers in India as well.
On the occasion, the departmental chiefs briefed the newly appointed Minister on the undertakings under the social security schemes and their future action-plan and as well as works carried out in the sector of labour and occupational security.
