Mixed response to government policies and programs

2022 May 25, 6:51, Kathmandu

Leaders of various political parties have given mixed reactions to the policies and programs of the fiscal year 2022-23 introduced by the government on Tuesday.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki described the policies and programs as a blueprint to make Nepal prosperous. "The policy and program are a reflection of our dream of bringing prosperity to the country. It is not just an assurance, it will be implemented," he said.

Likewise, the Chair of the Federal Council of the Janata Samajwadi Party of Nepal and former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that the policies and programs were positive in totality but were insufficient for the overall economic development of the country.

Chair of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also remarked that the policies and programs were positive as the country's agriculture, energy development, tourism promotion and other sectors were given the highest priority.

CPN (UML) Vice Chairman and former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said that many issues included in the policy and program have been repeated for a long time. He also said that it would be difficult to implement everything mentioned in the policy and programme due to the limited size of our budget.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Linden remarked that there would be problems in implementation due to the traditional nature of the budget as in the past.
