Provincial Health Directorate Surkhet has reported that 1 million 77 thousand five hundred 28 people received the first dose of vaccine, and 1 million 46 thousand 749 people have already received the second dose, by the end of June 2078/79.

The number of those taking the third dose, i.e. the booster dose, is less. Director of Health, Dr. Ravin Khadka said that the booster doses could not be given according to the target because the citizens were not interested in the vaccination, recently. "Vaccines have been sent at the municipal level, but 10,000 doses were wasted because citizens did not come to get them", he said, "People are neglecting to get vaccinated due to the tendency to panic when the virus increases and become careless when it decreases. Due to this, the booster dose could not be given to everyone.” The number of people to get the booster dose is 4 lakh 13 thousand 466.

According to the directorate, 68.7 percent of the total population was targeted to receive the first dose of vaccine, but only 59 percent received the first dose. Likewise, 66.8 percent were given the second dose, but 57 percent were vaccinated. The 12 to 17 year age group are the ones who received both the first and second doses of the vaccine.

So far 197 thousand 338 people have been tested for corona in Karnali. Out of the 39,099 confirmed detections, 391 deaths occurred. According to the latest statistics of the directorate, the number of active infected people across the province is 143.
