NEA has intensified the 'Bright City Campaign' with the aim of advancing the government's 'Bright Nepal Campaign' in a different way.

For this, with the coordination and cooperation of various municipalities, a plan has been decided to install smart lights in the main roads, historical and cultural heritage sites listed in the World Heritage List,. and in tourist places.

NEA Executive Director, Kulman Ghising said that the plan would enhance the beauty of the city, increase the demand for electricity and also to consume wasted electricity.

Ghising, who led the way to end power cuts in the past, is focusing on increasing quality electricity and electricity consumption for all this time.

In a similar campaign, unnecessary poles and wires in urban areas are removed. Ghising informed that the work is being carried out including removal of unused unnecessary electric poles and wires in the main and auxiliary roads and undergrounding of the wires.

In the first phase, the NEA plans to run the bright and clean city campaign in the federal capital Kathmandu Valley, Bharatpur and the tourist destination, Pokhara metropolis and then expand it across the country.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal had announced to improve the quality of distribution system and expand the distribution system underground in urban areas by increasing the capacity of distribution lines and subtations through her action plan. NEA has stated that it is going to launch 'Bright and Clean City Campaign' to implement this declaration.

In the first phase, work is underway in Maharajgunj and Ratna Park areas of Kathmandu to make the electric wire underground.

"The wire mesh of various service providers that have made the city ugly will be removed and placed in our own underground system. It will also enhance the beauty and make the city cleaner, ” said Ghising.

NEA is currently working in the area under Ratna Park and Maharajgunj Distribution Center in Kathmandu to make the power distribution system of Kathmandu Valley underground.

In the second phase, the work of undergrounding the remaining places of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Pokhara and Bharatpur will move forward. Since optical fiber will be laid along with electric wires, Internet, telecommunications, and television service providers will be able to provide services using the optical fiber.
