KATHMANDU: Nepal’s government has dismissed Kulman Ghising, the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), ahead of his term’s scheduled completion in July. A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to remove Ghising, a minister confirmed to Nepal News.

Ghising had been at the center of controversy over dedicated and trunk power lines, with disputes between the government and NEA over cutting industrial power supplies.

The cabinet appointed Hitendra Dev Shakya as Ghising’s replacement. Shakya previously held the post under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s leadership.
