Nepal reports 104 new COVID cases and 2 deaths

Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,688 new cases of coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed the detection of 104 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 998,743. Additionally, 15 people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 2 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Sunday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 12,014 Presently, there are 2,316 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 41 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 32 cases, Lalitpur logged 8 cases and Bhaktapur logged 1 case, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 201 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 984,413 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 98.6 percent while the fatality rate is 1.2 percent.

As of Sunday, a total of 5,908,369 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.

613,174,139 people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 6,514,871 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December.
