Outgoing Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that Nepal should be developed as a center of communication technology.

In his farewell program organized by the Ministry today, he expressed his belief that Nepal's climate, young manpower and the state of education can also develop Nepal as an 'IT hub'.

Minister Karki, who has been in charge of the Ministry of Communications since October 22, 2021, was relieved of his post yesterday after the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' was appointed as the Prime Minister.

Having also taken responsibility for the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, he has become a minister four times with the responsibility of ministries including water resources. He was elected from Sunsari Constituency No. 4 in the House of Representatives election held on November 4.

MP Karki said, "With the development of water resources, tourism and infrastructure, there is a sense that the country has accelerated its development. We should all work together to complete it." He asked the civil servants to rise above political beliefs and work as a permanent government for the country and the people.

On that occasion, the secretary of the ministry, Dr. Vaikunth Aryal, said that after the outgoing minister Karki took charge of the ministry, 95 percent of the ministry's operations were done through digital means.

He also said that during the tenure of Minister Karki, homework was done on other important issues such as communication laws and modernizing the postal service department.

Outgoing minister Karki was presented with a token of love on behalf of the ministry. A farewell ceremony was organized for him today by the Ministry of Law.
