The newly elected President of the Republic of Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel, today took the oath of office and secrecy at a special event held at the President's Residence Shital Niwas. The Acting Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki administered the oath to him. On that occasion, the Nepali Army saluted the President and fired a 21-gun salute from Tundikhel. President Poudel signed the oath on that occasion.
On that occasion, President Paudel also bid farewell to the outgoing President Bidya Devi Bhandari. On that occasion, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal presented a gift to Bhandari. Outgoing President Bhandari completed his term today and left for his private residence.
President Poudel started his work as the third president of the Republic of Nepal.
