The Nepal Students Union (NSU), a student wing of the Nepali Congress, demanded electric induction stoves for all students across the country at a subsidised price.

A team led by the President of the NSU Dujang Sherpa demanded for the same from the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre's leadership in a meeting held on Tuesday.

The NSU team met the Centre's Technical Director Dr Narayan Prasad Adhikari and urged him to consider distributing the induction stove to all students at a subsidized price.

The Centre recently announced to provide an electric induction stove free of cost to students from targeted communities, especially those from remote areas and pursuing their education in rented rooms in the Kathmandu Valley.

The Centre also called for college and university students to apply with the necessary documents for an electric induction stove.

Welcoming the decision of the Centre to provide this facility to students from indigenous and Dalit communities, the NSU visiting delegation demanded the same scheme for all students based on the principle of necessity.

NSU demanded for the same, arguing that the electric induction stove was the basic need of students and all students should, thus, fit in the scheme of the Centre.
