The number of 4th generation mobile service (4G) users in Nepal has surpassed the number of 3G users. The 'MIS Report' recently released by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) on the basis of the details up to last September 2078, has made it clear that 3G is now being replaced by 4G.
According to NTA, the number of customers using 4G service has reached 12.86 million, while the number of people using 3G are around 12.5 million 87 thousand.
Nepal Telecom has 66,034,065 4G customers while Ncell has 6,059,480. According to the MIS report, 167,096 of Smart Telecom users use 4G. Till now Nepal Telecom has 62.68 million, Ncell has 57.25 million and Smart Telecom has 176,000 4G users.
Comparing the statistics, the number of 4G users doubled in a year. In 2020 it was reported that 111.97 million people used 3G while the number of people using 4G was only 57.72 million. For a long time, Ncell dominated the Forge service but after 4 years, Nepal Telecom has surpassed private service provider 4G service only last August.
