Thirty-eight people have been injured when a bus heading to Kathmandu from Nuwakot met with an accident at Manakamana of Kispang Municipality-5. Eight of the injured have been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment.
According to the Nuwakot Police, the bus (Ba 4 Kha 5762) heading to Kathmandu from Kispang Rural Municipality-1 via Trishuli reached Manakamana at 11 am this morning. According to Hari Bahadur Wali, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, the bus was stranded at Manakamana's Dharapakho.
Of the injured, four are in critical condition and four have been airlifted to Kathmandu. The remaining 30 are undergoing treatment at Trishuli Hospital, Nuwakot. Most of the injured were passengers on the roof of the bus, police said. As soon as the bus started losing control, they jumped off the roof and injured their head and legs.
Chairman of Kispang Village Municipality Chhatra Bahadur Lama said that the driver of the bus turned in the opposite direction and stuck the bus in the drain. There were more than 50 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. They were on their way to Kathmandu.
