The officials deployed in upper Dolpa to conduct the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly on November 20 have been airlifted to the district headquarters in Dunai.
All the government officials mobilized for conducting the polls who were stranded in upper Dolpa were brought to Dunai on Friday after the week-long efforts of the District Administration Office and Office of the Chief Returning Officer.
The Nepali Army’s helicopter made seven flights today to airlift those officials. It is said that altogether 139 officials deployed in 12 polling centres in upper Dolpa were stranded in the altitude above 4,000 to 5,000 metres.
Nepali Army's helicopter heading to Dolpa on Thursday to bring those officials had returned due to unfavourable weather.
Chief District Officer of Dolpa Bednidhi Adhikari said that those officials were airlifted from Shey Phoksundo, Chharkatangsang and Dolpo Buddha rural municipalities.
It is said that some officials were taken ill due to excessive cold and lack of insufficient foods and other issues.
