One missing in snow in Myagdi

A person has gone missing after being buried in snow in Gurja, a remote Dhaulagiri village municipality-1 of Myagdi district on Thursday. Ward Chairman Zak Bahadur Chhantyal informed that Ram Bahadur Chhantyal, 50, went missing after a barn collapsed due to snowfall. According to him, three others have been stranded in the snow.

He said that Jagdevi Chhantyal, Buddhi Chhantyal and Lal Bahadur Vik, who were living in a cowshed far from the settlement, were stranded in the snow. He said that a helicopter was being prepared to search and rescue the missing.

Due to the heavy snowfall, footpath, electricity and mobile and internet services at Gurja have been cut off. As reported, heavy snowfall has damaged a tower set up to provide telephone and internet services. Ward chairperson said that the service has been disrupted. He said that the service can be resumed only after the weather is clear.
