Paddy plantation has been completed in over 85,000 hectares of land till date in Sudurpaschim Province. Due to the constant rains, the farmers in the area have been planting paddy in a continuous manner. Compared to the previous season paddy plantation is being done at a faster rate this years.
Moreover, farmers have also been able to give continuity to paddy plantation because of the irrigation facilities that have been set up. In previous seasons, the farmers had to solely depend on the monsoon rain to plant their paddy.
According to the Directorate of Agricultural Development of Sudurpaschim Province, paddy plantation has been completed in 38,786 hectares (55 per cent) of agricultural land in Kailali, 16,966 hectares (35 per cent) in Kanchanpur, and 7,465 hectares (45 per cent) in Achham. Similarly, the plantation has been completed in 3,946 hectares (55 per cent) of land in Bajura, 5,716 hectares (45 per cent) in Bajhang, and 4,050 hectares (45 per cent) in Baitadi.
Meanwhile, the directorate informed that paddy plantation has been completed in 224 hectares (62 per cent) of land in Darchula, 3,712 hectares (60 per cent) in Dadeldhura, and 4,500 hectares (42 per cent) in Doti.
In total, the plantation has been completed in 85,368 hectares (45.93) per cent of land in Sudurpaschim Province.
