The Election Commission has stated that today's local level member election, 2022 election was held peacefully and enthusiastically apart from sporadic incidents.

Spokesperson and Joint Secretary of the Commission Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that the polling was disrupted due to disputes between the parties and candidates in some places. He clarified that the exact number and percentage of votes cast could not be ascertained as the voters entering the polling booths would be allowed to cast their votes at that time even though the polling was scheduled for 5 pm.

Spokesperson Sharma thanked the commission for providing adequate support to the security personnel and staff on the ground. In response to a question, Spokesperson Sharma informed that the ballot boxes would be safely transported to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer after counting and the counting of votes would start from tonight in the urban areas after all-party discussions.

According to the commission, the polling was disrupted due to disputes in some polling stations of the district including Jumla, Saptari, Kavre, Rautahat, Ramechhap, Bara, Bajura and Parbat. The Chief Electoral Officer will decide on the re-polling in the blocked places by informing the Commission on the basis of the report of the Returning Officer.
