A bomb disposal squad of Nepali Army (NA) defused a pipe bomb in Khijidemba Rural Municipality of Okhaldhunga district.

The pipe bomb was recovered at Gunchhakhola area of the rural municipality. The local residents had informed the police after spotting the suspicious object.

A team led by NA Captain Phatta Narayan Shrestha from Aridaman Company disposed the bomb. Police Inspector Lanka Bahadur Shrestha also accompanied the NA’s bomb disposal team.

Security personnel suspected that the bomb could have been planted in the time of insurgency as the bomb seems too old. Police Inspector Shrestha has urged the local residents to be cautious as there could be other bombs too on the site.

Inspector Shrestha has called on the local people to immediately inform the police if they spot any suspicious objects.
