PM Dahal committed to NRN voting rights

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the Chitwan government is making an effort to establish the voting rights for non-resident Nepalis (NRNs).

 Inaugurating three water supplies projects simultaneously in Pushpa Kamal Dahal Chitwan today, the head of the government said the government is working to address the citizenship issues raised by the NRNs. "We are not only concerned about the social security of Nepalis residing outside the country, but also working to address their demands for a franchise and citizenship."

He utilised the moment to say the incumbent government is committed to achieving economic progress along with good governance and social justice. As he said, the government has created a foundation for socialism by incorporating informal sector workers and self-employed people into the social security fund.

The Prime Minister also underlined the need of further consolidating Nepal's foreign relations for political stability back home.

Launching the water projects, he said," It is the responsibility of the State to make arrangements for providing clean and safe drinking water to the citizens as ensured by the Constitution."

Similarly, Minister for Water Supply, Mahindra Ray Yadav, said the government is working to improve air quality in the country. Likewise, he took time to say that the coalition government would last for five years, promoting political stability.

Bharatpur metropolis mayor Renu Dahal said 92 percent citizens in the locality have access to clean drinking water and it will be reached within the next two years.

During the event, the Prime Minister officially launched the Sharadanagar Jagriti Urban Drinking Water and Sanitation, Jhakhedimai, and Dibyanagar projects.
