PM Oli to inaugurate Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project on Monday

First unit of the project will produce 76 megawatts of electricity.

The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, which is a national pride project, will start producing electricity from Monday.

The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, which is a national pride project, will start producing electricity from Monday. The energy being produced from Monday will be through the first unit of the 456-megawatt project.

Spokesperson of the project, Ganesh Neupane, informed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will virtually inaugurate the project at 4 pm on Monday. He mentioned the first unit of the project has the capacity to produce 76 megawatts of electricity.

The project today also supplied electricity through the 47.2-kilometre-long transmission line from the power house located in Gogar to Khimti to charge the 220 Kv transmission line. The project had also charged the transmission line from Dhalkebar to the Khimti substation on Saturday.

According to Neupane, the electricity that is supplied from the project to the Dhalkebar substation will then be evacuated to the national grid.

The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project is the biggest such project that has been built through domestic investment.
