Police have arrested a fugitive accused in a banking case

Ambika Budhathoki, 41, of Dhaneshwar, Tokha Municipality-3, Kathmandu, was arrested from Bhainsepati in Lalitpur today after the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) imposed a fine of Rs. 17 lakh 42 thousand 877.

Bureau Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamal Thapa informed that the fugitive Budhathoki was arrested after the High Court of Patan sentenced her to six days imprisonment and fined her Rs. 17 lakh 42 thousand 877.

Budhathoki, who was arrested, had committed a criminal offence by handing over cheque in her Siddhartha Bank Limited Dhaneshwar branch account without sufficient balance. The High Court had sentenced Budhathoki to life imprisonment as per the Banking Offences and Punishment Act 2064 BS.

According to Superintendent of Police Thapa, Budhathoki was brought in before the Lalitpur District Court today.
