Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ranjita Shrestha, has said it was necessary to develop villages first rather than urban areas in order to develop the country.
Speaking in today's meeting of the House of Representatives after asking for time from Speaker, Minister Shrestha opined that landless citizens should get land and villages should be made prosperous.
She shared that thousands of people residing in Kathmandu Valley are still landless and without landownership certificate, the Minister expressed the belief that activities would be carried out to resolve the problem soon by forming a taskforce.
Saying she would take initiatives to resolve the problems of kamaiya and kamlari as they have not got landownership certificate since long, she mentioned that problems would be resolved through National Land Commission at some extent.
The Commission has been carrying out works to resolve the problem of landless and meaningful support of all was necessary for the same, said Minister Shrestha.
Stating that local level should play role regarding land plotting, she said the federal government should facilitate if demanded.
