A woman died in Chitwan due to coronavirus within 23 hours of the husband passing away due to the contagion.

The district administration of Chitwan has extended the prohibitory order till July 15 albeit with some relaxations. Chief District Officer Prem Lal Maharjan said that the prohibitory order which was supposed to end at midnight today had been extended till midnight of July 15.

Meanwhile, the prohibitory order has been eased in the district. From Friday, hotels and restaurants will be allowed to open from 11 am to 7 pm but they will be allowed to provide only home delivery and take-away services. Lodges have also been allowed to open, however only one-third of the total number of rooms has been allowed to be let out. Moreover, the rooms have to be disinfected every day.

The administration has also allowed shops to open for eight hours every day from 11 am to 7 pm. Prior to this shops were allowed to open from 12 pm to 6 pm for three days a week. Meanwhile, shops selling essential goods like grocery items, vegetables, fruits, meat products, milk products, and construction materials will be allowed to open throughout the day.

Public vehicles have also been allowed to operate but only within the district and on odd-even vehicle registration number basis. However, public vehicles will not be allowed to carry more passengers than the seating capacity and passengers will have to mandatorily be wearing a face mask.
