Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has pledged to resolve implementation issues in the telecom sector soon.
The government was at work to go for an e-SIM card system for Nepal Telecom following network problems time and again, said the government's spokesperson. Managing free WiFi at tourist, religious and educational spots in the country is underway, he said while participating in a meeting of the Development and Technology Committee under the House of Representatives on Thursday.
Similarly, the ministry secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal said problems in the expansion of telecom towers in urban and forest areas would be resolved.
Meanwhile, the Committee has directed the respective ministries to expand water, sewage, electricity and communication service.
In this regard, it underscored the need for cooperation among the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Urban Development and Water Supplies.
The Committee asked the Communications Ministry to submit a clear action plan for the current fiscal year, 2022/23 on providing quality internet service and its expansion in a fast and feasible way within 15 days, said Committee Chair Kalyani Kumari Khadka.
