POKHARA: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is currently held by Kaski Police in connection with the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case, was presented in court today for the third time to seek an extension of his detention.
Alongside Lamichhane, former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, and Ram Bahadur Khanal, who are also in Kaski Police custody over their involvement in the same fraud case, appeared before the District Court Kaski for a decision on their continued detention.
Previously, the District Court had granted Lamichhane a 7-day detention extension.
Lamichhane, the former Home Minister, was arrested in relation to the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud.
With the court resuming after the Tihar break, the police brought Lamichhane in for another request to extend his detention.
Should the District Court grant the extension, Lamichhane will be transferred to Butwal for further investigation, including providing statements related to a supplementary complaint in the broader cooperative fraud case there.
