Relief funds handed over to Doti earthquake victims

Khaptad National Park was the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred on Wednesday morning and the families of those who died due to the collapse of their houses have been provided with relief money.

According to the District Administration Office Doti, through the Doti District Disaster Management Fund, the relatives of the deceased received compensation, up to three and four lakhs. Likewise, tents, blankets, and food have been provided to 18 households that were completely damaged. Arrangements have been made to send relief materials to 10 families in Simaldanda of East Chowki on November 26.

According to the administration, preliminary details of physical damage are being collected with the involvement of local technicians, nearby police units and the Red Cross. It is also reported that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has been requested to send technical personnel for the survey and assessment of physical damage as well as the various decisions taken at the District Disaster Management Committee meeting. Although the houses in other municipalities of the district were cracked and destroyed due to the earthquake, more material damage was done in East Chowki and Sayal Rural Municipality. According to the inspection team, 30 houses, including two uninhabited houses, have been completely damaged in Poovichowki Rural Municipality, while many other houses have been gutted.

The inspection team included Prazia Shrestha, Purvi Chowki Village Chairman Ram Prasad Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Dhamala, S.P.U.Vir Singh Shahu, P.A.A. Lakshi Kunwar, President of Digamwar Giri, Red Cross Society was present.
