Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that the committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to carry out an investigation into the Darchula incident would submit its report soon.

Jay Singh Dhami, 33, of Byas rural municipality-2 in Darchula district, has gone missing in the Mahakali river after Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) cut the rope of a tuin (ropeway bridge) that he was using to cross the river on July 30.

During the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, Home Minister Khand shared that the probe committee has been seriously carrying out the investigation into the incident.

He further said that the preparation of the report was delayed as some members of the committee are out of Kathmandu for some special work.

The Home Minister shared the information that a total of 26 people have lost their lives after falling from tuin in the district so far from 2050 BS. He briefed the committee that the bodies concerned have been directed to construct the bridge at the river by replacing the tuin.

"It is the responsibility of the state to save the life of the citizens. The government was always serious to save the people's lives", he opined.

Home Minister Khand said that the Nepal Police has reached close to the incident of Nirmala Panta and the report would be made public once the investigation completes. Nirmala Pant (13) of Kanchanpur district was raped and murdered on July 27, 2018.

He added that the government was serious to end black marketing, corruption, and other illegal activities taking place in the country.

Lawmakers had drawn the attention of the government towards delay in releasing the reality and fact of the Darchula incident and to take action against the guilty. Home Minister Khand, Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, and Inspector General of Police, Shailesh Thapa, were present in the meeting.
